SRINAGAR: Hurriyat Conference on Tuesday strongly denounced the continuous harassment and interrogation of Dr Syed Naseem Geelani by NIA, saying it is a ploy perpetrated by authorities to scare and break the determination and commitment of Syed Ali Geelani.
Naseem is the son of Hurriyat chairman Syed Ali Geelani. He was summoned by NIA and asked to present himself on 25th September. and unnecessary questioning continued even today, said Hurriyat.
Hurriyat in a statement said NIA is “unreasonably” targetting and subjecting Geelani’s family to vengeance. “Previously, NIA summoned Altaf Ahmad Shah, Ayaz Akbar, Peer Saif ullah, Raja Meraj-u-din Kalwal and arrested other pro-freedom leaders, traders, lawyers, and scholars.”
“Even though authorities utilised all these coercive and suppressive tactics to break our resolve but failed and despite all this, people pursuing the freedom movement unquestionably would achieve their destination,” Hurriyat said. Meanwhile, Syed Ali Geelani has expressed his deep grief over the demise of Dr Mehraj u Din Munshi and said the deceased was a God-fearing person and well-wisher of freedom movement. He extended his heartfelt condolences with grieved family and prayed for their forbearance and heavenly abode for the departed soul.
On Geelani’s directions, Mohammad Rafiq Owasi, Mohammad Ashraf and Ghulam Mohammad Mir visited the bereaved family and extended their condolences and prayed for the departed soul.
