HC asks Govt to seek ERA report on Rajbagh Bridge

Srinagar: The Jammu and Kashmir High Court on Tuesday permitted state government to seek technical expert report from Jammu and Kashmir Economic Reconstruction Agency(J&K ERA) on next hearing.
While hearing a suo-moto Public Interest Litigation, the division bench headed by Chief Justice Badar Durrez Ahmed and Justice Ali Mohammad Magrey directed Advocate General Jehangir Iqbal Ganai to file technical report by executive engineer, Economic Reconstruction Agency (ERA), certified by chief executive officer (CEO), before the next hearing.
Already Amicus curie RA Jan has submitted technical report from institute of Indian engineers and state is yet to file response to that report.
This year on April 10, High court directed government to construct the bridge and not the footbridge over Jhelum and ordered them to proceed with the construction as per original plan of 1981.
The government in its report had stated that the project was approved on 13-10-1981 for ‘Improvement to Road Communication System in Srinagar City.
In addition to Rajbagh bridge, the project had included construction of new roads and improvement, up-gradation and widening of some existing roads.
