Srinagar: A shutdown against summoning of more people by the National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Monday affected normal life in Kashmir valley.
NIA has is investigating an alleged funding case registered on May 30 this year. Seven pro-freedom leaders, a businessman and two youth including a photojournalist have been arrested so far by the NIA.
Today’s shutdown call was given by Kashmir Traders Manufacturers Federation (KTMF) against summoning of its president Mohammad Yaseen Khan. The call was supported by pro-freedom leaders.
All shops and other commercial establishments are closed in business hub of Lal Chowk in Srinagar while public transport remained mostly off the roads. However, private transport was plying normally.
Life remained affected in Downtown Srinagar where restrictions have been placed by the authorities to prevent any protests.
