Owais Fafoo was allegedly drowned to death near Shivpora in 2015
Srinagar: The mother of a youth allegedly drowned to death by another man near Shivpora in 2015 staged a protest in Srinagar on Saturday alleging that the accused was threatening her.
Owais Ahmed Fafoo, a resident of Mander Bagh, was apparently drowned to death near Shivpora Bund by a man, who also tried to drown another person in the same way, minutes after putting Owais to death in 22nd July, 2015.
Owais’s mother Shahzada appeared in Press Enclave and said the accused, who is on bail, has been threatening her from a very long time.
“I have filed a report in various police stations regarding the issue but police did not take action against him. He is on bail and within some days he has to produce himself in court for hearing. I appeal to the authority to give me justice, I lost my son forever he did not come back I just need justice,” Shahzada said while alleging that police was shielding the accused.
She said that Owais had sustained injuries on his head when his body was fished out near Sumbal in Bandipora district.
“I have not come here for publicity but to demand justice for the murder of my son. If police does not take action against the accused I will set myself on fire,” she said.
“Moreover I want to make it clear that if anything happens to me higher authority of Jammu and Kashmir is responsible,” she said. “I have approached them several times for the security as I was threatened of dire consequences.”
