Mir pleads for consultations

Srinagar: President of Jammu Kashmir Democratic Party ( Nationalist) and former minister Ghulam Hassan Mir has asked the government to open dialogue with the transporters operating from General Bus Stand Batamaloo and resolve the issue of shifting the bus stand to Parimpora “in an amicable fashion”.
In a statement here today, Mir said that the government should have avoided confrontationist mode as “it has caused numerous problems to the passengers, commuters and even the vendors for the last few weeks”.
“I am absolutely clear (that) with the changing times and the increasing passenger rush, the decongestion is in tune with the times, but for that the unilateral measures are not the answer,” Mir said adding that the best course is to have talks, consult the stakeholders and take them into confidence.
“All issues can be resolved by sitting across the table. The interests of all concerned should be protected in a satisfactory manner,” Mir said.
