CUK holds inter-hostel girls badminton tourney

Rajbagh hostel boarders emerge victorious

Srinagar: The hostel boarders of Rajbagh Girls Hostel defeated the hostel boarders of Sanat Nagar Girls hostel in the finals of the inter-hostel Girls badminton tournament organised by the Department of Students Welfare (DSW) and the office of the Chief Warden, Central University of Kashmir (CUK) at Sanatnagar hostel here Sunday.
The Rajbagh winning team comprised Aasiya Nazir of the Zoology Department and Najma Rasool of the Biotechnology Department while as the runner ups from Sanatnagar were Amreen of B.Voc and Tehmeena of Law Department.
The winners were given a trophy and a cash prize of Rs. 2000 while as the runner up team bagged the cash prize of Rs 1000. As many as 14 players participated in the tournament.
Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Mehraj ud Din and Registrar, Prof. M Afzal Zargar congratulated the winning team for their exemplary performance and hailed the runner ups for putting a tough fight.
Chief Warden, Prof. Farooq A Shah, Dean Students Welfare, Fayaz A Nikka, Deputy Chief Warden, Mushtaq A Lone and Wardens Insha Farooq, Pushpita and Hema Bindu were also present on the occasion.
