Fodder crop Dhobi Ghat farm Gulmarg reviewed

SRINAGAR: To assess the crop situation and to review the infrastructural development of the agrostology farms of Kashmir Valley, agrostologist from the Agriculture Department Kashmir today visited the high altitude agrostology farm at Dhobi Ghat Gulmarg. The farm is spread over an area of 17.5 hectares out of which 8 hectares are brought under the cultivation of perennial fodder crops. The farm is one of the five high altitude farms under the Department wherein different varieties of fodder crops are grown, which are disease free, high in protein content for the consumption of animals.
The Agrostologist was informed that 15 quintals of red clover/ other perennial seed has been produced last year from these farms and distributed among the farmers on subsidized rates.
