Srinagar: The authorities have ordered action against nine youths from Srinagar for raising ISIS flags in Nowhatta area three years ago, sources said.
A case FIR (No. 92/2014) under section 13 of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, 1967 was registered in police station Nowhatta soon after the raising of ISIS flags.
The nine accused include Sajad Ahmad Gilkar of Pandan Nowhatta, Auqib Ahmad Mir of Wantpora Nowhatta, Yasir Maqbool Mir of Alamgari Bazar Zadibal, Obaid Ali Bhat of Daribal Khanyar, Arshad Ahmad Sofi of Chandpora Hawal, Hashim Farooq Mir of Ikhrajpora Jawher Nagar, Arshad Ahmad Wani of Safakadal, Abrar Farooq Wani of Baba Pora Saidakadal and Javid Ahmad Sofi of Baghi-Nand Singh Chattabal.
Pertinently, Sajad Gilkar was killed in an encounter with forces earlier this year after he joined militant ranks.
“The Investigating Officer has established a prima-facie case against the accused persons under section 13 of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, 1967 apart from other offences,” reports quoting an SRO issued by the Home Secretary said.
