Sangam: Government forces on Saturday pasted posters of ‘wanted militants’ in several villages in south Kashmir’s during the cordon and search operation. The posters announced that ‘five lakh would be given to the person who will inform the security forces about the presence of militants in the area’.
The posters were first of its kind to place a bounty on heads of militants. Villagers said that earlier posters did not announce any cash reward though they sought information regarding militants.
These posters mentioned names of Mushtaq Ahmad Mir, Rayeez Thoker, Abbas Ahmad Bhat, Gayas-ul-Islam and Ishfaq Ahmad Thoker, who according to government agencies were present in the area.
