Budgam: A protest rally was taken out in Budgam against the NIA raid on Shia cleric and Hurriyat leader Aga Syed Hassan.
After offering prayers at the Imam Bara at Budgam, a number of people took out a rally from the Imam Bara to the main market. They raised slogans against the NIA and in favour of Aazadi.
The protest call was given by the Anjuman-e-Sharia-Shian.
In the main market, Aga Hassan addressed the marchm and condemned the raids on the Kashmiri pro-freedom leaders, businessmen, and journalists as well.
“Instead of raiding the house they should have checked my property and bank accounts as well. But creating the fear among people has remained their main motive,” he said.
He further added that the main motive of the Investigation team is to muzzle the “freedom movement” in the valley.
“The movement will continue and the raids won’t matter whether they will raid every household in the valley,” he said.
The protest later ended peacefully.
Meanwhile, funeral prayers in absentia were offered for Rohingya Muslims at Beerwah after the Friday prayers.
A number of people gathered in the main market and after prayers at Jamia Masjid Beerwah and offered absentia prayers for the Rohingya Muslims.
A shutdown was also observed in Zoolwa Gopalpora, as a youth from the area died in a Thursday evening grenade attack at Jahangir Chowk.
