Sopore: Police on Monday said that two militants were killed ina gunfight with government forces in Baramulla district.
J&K police spokesperson in a statement said that an encounter raged in Sopore town of the district this morning dring which two unidentified militants were killed.
“Identity of the slain militants is being ascertained,” he added.
In a separate statement, Srinagar based defence spokesperson, Colonel Rajesh Kalia told the Kashmir Reader, “operation is still in progress.”
Earlier, a gunfight between the government forces and militants started during a cordon and search operation (CASO) in Shankar Gund area in the outskirts of Sopore town.
“As the cordon was tightened, the militants started firing triggering the encounter,” a police officer said.
