Beijing: China has reiterated that Pakistan as a front state in the war against terrorism has rendered great sacrifices.

Chinese Foreign Ministry’s spokesperson Hua Chunying during her regular press briefing in Beijing said that the international community should acknowledge and fully recognize contribution of Pakistan in the anti-terror fight.

She said that China is willing to work with Pakistan and other countries to enhance cooperation on counter-terrorism and protect regional security and stability.

China has reaffirmed its continuing support to Pakistan and vowed to further strengthen strategic friendship with it during a meeting between Chinese Foreign Minister, Wang Yi had and Pakistan’s Foreign Secretary Tehmina Janjua in Beijing, a Radio Pakistan report said.

The Chinese foreign minister lauded Pakistan’s great sacrifices made in fight against terrorism and urged international community to fully recognize these efforts.

The foreign secretary, underlining the importance of Pakistan-China friendship, reiterated Pakistan’s support to China on all issues of its core interest.

Both sides also agreed to continue close consultations on efforts for lasting peace and stability in Afghanistan and underscored the importance of the Trilateral Afghanistan-China-Pakistan Foreign Minister’s meeting.

They also discussed the entire gambit of bilateral relations, regional, global issues, as well as the situation in Kashmir.

After President Trump accused Islamabad of harbouring militants, China defended Pakistan’s “important role” in Afghanistan.

Trump, in unveiling his Afghanistan strategy this week, said Pakistan was playing a double game by accepting American aid while giving safe haven to insurgents who kill Afghan and NATO troops.
