Participates in India Conclave in Hyderabad
SRINAGAR: J&K Tourism department is participating in a 3-day India Conclave which began on Wednesday at International Conference Center (ICC) in Hyderabad.
The event is being organized by India Convention Promotion Bureau (ICPB), a body working under the aegis of Ministry of Tourism GoI to promote the tourism potential of India. The department is promoting the MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences and Exhibitions) potential of the state which includes international standard facility of Sher-i-Kashmir International Conference Centre (SKICC) in Srinagar and newly developed convention center at Pahalgam besides Nigeen Club which is also at a beautiful location.
SKICC is also one of the active members of ICPB.
Tourism and Tribal Welfare Minister of Telangana Azmeera Chandulal inaugurated the event in presence of Chairman ICPB Suman Billa and Joint Secretary Ministry of Tourism GoI and other dignitaries and participants from different countries and various other states of India.
The department has beautifully decorated its stall in the event to showcase its MICE potential which was frequented by buyers and conference organizers from different parts of India.
Director Tourism Kashmir Mahmood A Shah said Kashmir is one of the pleasant places for conventions and meetings.
He said the department has participated in the 3-day tourism conclave to highlight the states MICE potential and attract business houses to Kashmir for conventions.
“MICE is an important sector in tourism which needs to be tapped. The convection organizers want corporate meetings at health resorts. Kashmir is one of the best health resorts where conventions can also be held,” said Director Tourism.
Shahnawaz Shah from SKICC is also participating in the event who interacted with the visitors at the JK stall.
He gave an overview of the MICE facilities in J&K especially in Kashmir and Kargil to the visitors.
He said all conference facilities in Kashmir are at beautiful locations which they should promote among business houses.
“Unlike other states, our convention centers like SKICC, Nigeen Club and Pahalgam Club are at beautiful locations. We need to promote such beautiful facilities among business houses so that we can tap MICE tourism,” he said.
