Anantnag: The Medical Superintendent (MS) of Anantnag district hospital was placed under suspension on Sunday for unauthorized absence from duty while another doctor from the hospital was suspended for not wearing apron.
The suspensions were ordered by divisional commissioner Kashmir, Baseer Ahmad Khan, on Sunday during his surprise visit to the hospital.
Chief Medical Officer (CMO) Anantnag, Dr Fazil Kochak, confirmed the suspension of MS Dr Majid Mirab and another doctor Muhammad Amin.
“The MS was not present at the hospital when Divisional Commissioner visited,” Kochak told Kashmir Reader.
Sources at the hospital told Kashmir Reader that Dr Muhammad Amin was put under suspension for not wearing an apron.
“There is no way one can distinguish you from the civilians. This is not how a doctor is supposed to be during his duty hours,” sources quoted Khan as saying to the doctor.
Khan also visited the Maternity and Children’s hospital in Sherbagh area of the town and took stock of the working.
He interacted with the patients and the attendants for on-spot feedback.
The divisional commissioner directed deputy commissioner (DC) Anantnag, Younis Malik, to conduct surprise checks and make sure the government offices were functioning well.
