Ganderbal: A labourer was killed while working in a stone quarry in Central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district.
Officials said labour died when a stone quarry he was working in collapsed and the debris fell on him at Babsalina Yangoora near Sainik School in Mansbal area on Sunday.
The deceased was identified as Mohammad Jaleel, 45,who died on the spot., police officials said.
He said after conducting medico-legal formalities the body was handed over to his family.
Police have taken cognizance of the incident.
Meanwhile, officials of Ganderbal Sindh Forest Division on Sunday seized banned medicinal herbs localy called as dhoop worth lakhs of rupees in Shutkari in Sonamarg forests of Central Kashmir Ganderbal district.
Officials said that the a team of forest officials of Sindh forest range Ganderbal led by range officer Muneer Ahmad under the supervision of DFO Ganderbal after specific inputs of smuggling of banned rare medicinal herbs, we laid a siege near Shutari Sonamarg area of tehsil Gund after three hours searches in the area we recovered 1.4 quintals of banned forest herb Macrocephala Dhoop which have estimated value of lakhs in market officials said.
“We have intensified search operation in the forests compartment No 65A after receiving inputs to check smuggling of Banned herbs we have recovered seven bags of banned herbs its a big achievement for us to curb smuggling of Banned medicinal plants said DFO Ganderbal Tanveer Ahmad.
