Sopore: A group of health department employees along-with some locals held a protest demonstration in the premises of sub-district hospital at Sopore in Baramulla district against the premature transfer of a senior pediatrician doctor, Suhail Naik, following publication of some unsubstantiated reports in a local newspaper.
The protesters demanded ‘justice’ for the pediatrician. According to reports, protesters were seen shouting slogans in favor of Dr Suhail Naik.
“My son is under Dr Suhail’s treatment and I believe he is the best pediatrician in the town,” a local resident said demanding retention of the doctor at the hospital.
The protesters said if the pediatrician was transferred, they would continue protests till the order was revoked.
The allegations leveled against Suhail Naik were dismissed by the Doctors Association Kashmir (DAK), on Thursday. In a statement last week DAK said, “A particular media house has been repeatedly writing on the behest of self-styled president with vested interests that the doctor was absent from duties which are totally concocted, baseless and fabricated.”
DAK has also decided that it will take a legal action against the media house and “self-styled president” soon. It asked the state government to refrain from ‘impartial and unjustified action,’ which otherwise will be “responded by repercussion”.
