AS Club pip Tigers to pocket district Srinagar title

State Cricket Academy T-20 Championship

Srinagar: Amar Singh Cricket Club (Reds) and Shama Cricket Club Saturday won their respective district titles of State Cricket Academy T-20 Championship.
Amar Singh Cricket Club beat Kashmir Tigers by five wickets in the Srinagar district finals played at University of Kashmir ground.
Chasing a small target of 109, Amar Singh Club reached the target in a little over 18 overs. Jahangir Ahmad was pillar of the successful chase making an undefeated 66 off 49 balls. He was chosen man of the match.
Earlier batting heavy Kashmir Tigers were bundled out for just 108 in 16 overs. Sahil Ahmad was the wrecker-n-chief for Amar Singh Cricket Club taking four wickets. For Kashmir Tigers Shahnawaz muscled a 19-ball 25 while Abid and Atif Nabi contributed 17 and 20 respectively. Khalid made 18.
Joint Secretary J&K State Sports Council Nazir Ahmad was the chief guest. Sports Officer, Kashmir Nuzhat Ara was guest of honour. Member Sports Council Bashir Ahmad Shah, Assistant Director, Physical Education University of Kashmir Nadeem Dar, Director State Cricket Academy and Publications Mubashir Hassan and cricket coach Sakeena Akhter were also part of presentation ceremony.
Imran Haroon of Sangam Cricket Club was given man of the series and best batsman awards for scoring runs consistently in the tournament. Best Bowler award went to Amar Singh Club’s Sahil while Usaid Firdous of City Cricket Club was chosen as emerging player of the tournament. Abid Nabi walked away with best all-rounder award.
Over in South Kashmir’s Shopian district, Shama Cricket Club won the event beating Aharbal Kings by five wickets in a close fought encounter.
After put into bat, Aharbal Kings posted a decent total of 150 for the loss of five wickets. The Kings’ innings primarily revolved around Shahid Ahmad who scored a terrific 75 to give his side a good total to defend. Inamul Gulzar contributed undefeated 37 in the later stages of the innings. For Shama Cricket Club, Dilawar Pal scalped two wickets.
Shama Cricket Club managed their chase, reaching the target in 19 overs. Farooq Ahmad was the protagonist of the successful making a solid 45. Nadeem Ahmad made 29 not out.
Farooq Ahmad was awarded man of the match along with Shahid Ahmad.
