Srinagar: The joint resistance leadership on Friday postponed the protest programme including shutdown on Tuesday in wake of Supreme Court’s (SC) adjournment of the hearing on Article 35A.
“Now as hearing in Indian Supreme Court has been postponed, therefore all announced protest programmes including the protest strike on Tuesday, August 29, have been postponed,” the leadership comprising Syed Ali Geelani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Muhammad Yasin Malik said in a statement.
“If and when need arises, a new protest programme will be announced in this regard and nefarious design to change the demography of Jammu Kashmir in the garb of 35-A will be resisted with passion and zeal,” they said.
The leadership said that the issue is “directly linked to our right of self determination”. “Because of this, Kashmiris living across the globe stand united against this ploy and are ready to defend this law with passion. Kashmiris are fully aware of Indian conspiracies and will resist these nefarious designs,” they said.
