SRINAGAR: Doctors Association Kashmir (DAK), on Thursday dismissed reports that the death of a neonate who was shifted from Sub District Hospital (SDH) to GB Pant Srinagar was caused by the negligence of a pediatrician.
In a statement issued here, DAK head by Dr Mir Mushtaq, said that the neonate who was critical had first been handled at SDH Sopore, and later shifted to GB Pant as per protocol.
According to the DAK, Dr Suhail Naik, who has treated upon the neonate had himself referred the child. It is said that it is a baseless report to say that the doctor was absent from his duties
“A particular media house has been repeatedly writing on the behest of self-styled president with vested interests that the doctor was absent from duties which is totally concocted, baseless and fabricated,” the statement said.
DAK has decided that it will take a legal action against the media house and “self-styled president” soon. It asked the state government to refrain from ‘impartial and unjustified action,’ which otherwise will be “responded by repercussion”.
Society Of Consultant Doctors, JK has also extended its support to Dr Suhail Naik.
SCD in a press release castigated a particular media house “which is trying to hoodwink public opinion against a paediatrician for some personal vested interest”.
Society of Dental Surgeons, J&K (SDSJK) has also slammed the “unscrupulous elements” who they said for ulterior motives “have hatched a conspiracy to defame the credibility of Suhail and who is being falsely implicated”.
