Five policemen injured in road mishap

PAMPORE: Five policemen were injured in a road mishap on the Srinagar-Jammu highway at Chandhara crossing near 50 Rastiya Rifles Camp area of Pampore in Pulwama district.
According to sources, the policemen were going to look after the security of Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti who was scheduled to visit Kulgam district on Wednesday morning.
The injured policemen have been identified as Farooq Ahmad Reshi, Shahnawaz Ahmad Lone, Nisar Ahmad Darbet, Babar Ahmad Khan and Ghulam Mohammad.
A Police officer told Kashmir Reader that a police vehicle affiliated with District Police Lines Srinagar while plying towards Kulgam met with an accident resulting into injury of five policemen and also damaged the vehicle.
A senior police official said that five police personnel sustained injuries in the accident who were soon shifted to Sub District Hospital Pampore for treatment.
He said that the accident happened when the steering of the vehicle broke down forcing the driver to steer the vehicle into the low lying
area of the road side.
Medical authorities said that the injured were stable and left for DPL Srinagar after getting the treatment.
