Operations in public sector banks hit in Kashmir

Srinagar: Banking operations in public sector banks across Kashmir valley were hit as banking unions called for a pan India strike against the GOI’s proposed consolidation move, besides raising other demands. Even though many private sector banks, including JK bank, HDFC and ICICI operated normally. Services like withdrawal and deposits at bank branches, besides cheque clearance, NEFT and RTGS transactions have came to a halt, badly affecting lakhs of customers in the state, including Kashmir valley.
