Srinagar: Handwara gunfight between militants and government forces entered second day on Wednesday as Para Commandos were rushed to the area, sources said.
They said that Para Commandos have resumed a search operation in Hafrudha forest area of Handwara in north Kashmir’s Kupwara district to find out hiding militants.
Local sources told Kashmir Reader that they could see and hear army helicopters flying in the area since wee hours.
Pertinently, an unidentified militant was killed yesterday after an encounter took place between hiding militants and forces. The operation was suspended late last evening, sources said.
The gunfight had started on Tuesday after forces launched searches in the area following a tip off about the presence of militants.
