State Cricket Academy T-20 Championship (Anantnag)
SRINAGAR: Parvez Rasool-the all-rounder-proved his mettle yet again, playing a starring role in Bijbehara Sports’ title victory over Tiger Sports Anantnag in the district Anantnag leg of State Cricket Academy T-20 Championship played at Government Boys Higher Secondary Ground Bijbehara on Sunday.
Parvez hit a fifty and took two wickets as Bijbehara Sports beat Tiger Sports by 88 runs to qualify for the main round of the tournament.
Riding on solid contributions from Parvez Rasool, Aaqib Nazir and Imran Mir, Bijbehara Sports posted a more than competitive score of 177 for the loss of five wickets in the allotted 20 overs.
Parvez coming to bat at number three took his time before unfurling some quality strokes on his way to a solid 40-ball 50. Aaqib looked comfortable during his 27-ball stay at the crease that fetched him 41 runs. Imran slammed lusty blows to help his side go past 170. He made 12-ball 27.
Chasing 178, Tiger Sports were shot out for a nothing 89 inside 18 overs Ishaq Bhat took three wickets and Parvez, Asif Rasool and Aqib snared a brace of wickets each.
Parvez Rasool was given man of the match award. He stressed on the need to organise more such tournaments to give young players chance to showcase their talent.
Director State Cricket Academy Mubashir Hassan gave away prizes among the winners and runner up team. He praised the effort of local organisers to make the tournament a success. The award presentation ceremony was attended by various former cricketers of the area.
