Shopian student’s body handed over to family

Shopian: A college going student was shot dead by unidentified gunmen in South of Kashmir on Sunday.

Police said that a bullet riddled body was recovered in Shopian district this morning. There was no report of any assailant till filing of this story.

The body had bullet marks, police said.

The slain body was identified as that of Gowhar Ahmad, son of Abdul Rehman Dar of Urpara village in Nagbal area of the district.

The body was found by locals lying in an orchard, less than a kilometre from his home.

Ahmad’s family sources said that he had left his home last evening.

SSP Shopian, S A Dinkar, told Kashmir Reader that police are investigating the incident.

Eye witnesses said that the body of the slain youth was handed over to his family by police around 1:15 pm today.
