Srinagar: Authorities on Monday imposed restrictions in Srinagar areas and deployed extra forces to “maintain law and order,” official sources said.
Restrictions have been imposed in areas falling under five police stations of Rainawari, Khanyar, Nowhatta, M.R. Gunj and Safa Kadal, they said.
The measure was taken following the deaths of three militants and two civilian protesters the previous day, authorities said.
All examinations scheduled for Monday have also been postponed and educational institutions have been closed.
Two civilian, Owais Ahmad Dar and Muhammad Sayeed Bhat, died in force’s actions during clashes in Kakapora and Shopian areas.
Clashes between protesters and the forces broke out in many south Kashmir areas after three militants including Yasin Yatoo, the operational commander of the Hizbul Mujahideen were killed in a gunfight in Shopian’s Awneera village earlier on Sunday.
