Militants flee cordon after injuring two cops in Hajin

Srinagar: Two cops of Jammu and Kashmir police were injured after militants opened fire on them during a cordon and search operation (CASO) in Bandipora district on Sunday morning.

A police official said, “militants fired upon cordon and search party of 13 RR and police at Wahab Parray Mohalla, Hajin (in) district Bandipora, resulting in injuries to 02 police personnel.”

He said that injured police personnel were referred to hospital for further treatment. They were identified as Mukhtiyar Ahmad and Fayaz Ahmad.

“Cordon and search operation has ended,” a youth from the area said.

Meanwhile, reports said that an army soldier too was injured in the militant attack. The injured soldier was identified as Sepoy Raj Kumar of Hajin based 13 RR.

They added that the militants succeeded in fleeing the cordon. “The firing continued for more than 45 minutes as hundreds of bullets were fired,” a local said.
