Legal Assistance Establishment will provide information and assistance under one roof
SRINAGAR: Chief Justice, Justice Badar Durrez Ahmad inaugurated Legal Assistance Establishment (Qanooni Imdad Markaz) at J&K SLSA office at the old secretariat in Srinagar.
The Legal Assistance Establishment will be a multiple centralized information centre for providing information to legal aid seeker under one roof at a single location through E-mail, telephone, and video conference.
“The facility of video conference would help the under trials in the jail to connect and brief his counsel provided by legal service institution and also people will know about quick information about their case status pending in any of the district,” Justice Mohammad Yaqoob Mir said on the occasion.
Moreover, he said it would help people in need of legal assistance particularly women, children, senior citizens, schedule tribe or socially and economically backward classes persons and people in distress. This service also makes people aware of their rights and the benefits of schemes introduced by the central and state government from time to time
The facility would be manned by a legal service advocate, staff of State Legal Services Authority, and PLVs and shall provide quick information to legal aid beneficiaries, service to people in the need of legal assistance particularly marginalized groups, information about activities of state legal service authority and district legal service authorities and legal aid, advice and information about various scheme of national legal service authority, central and state government.
The chief justice also launched the website of J&K SLSA, www.jkslsa.gov.in, on the occasion.
