Srinagar: Troops from West Bengal-based 33 Corps are being deployed at the Indo-China border in Sikkim, reports said on Wednesday. The deployment comes in the backdrop of a two-month old military standoff between India and China in the Doklam Plateau.
“The troop movement of three divisions of Sukna-based 33 Corps started 20-25 days ago and may still be ongoing,” reported a news website The Quint.
As per the report the Indian Army’s 17th Mountain Division is already stationed in Sikkim. A corps is made up of three divisions and has a total of 20-30,000 troops.
The report on Indian troops’ movement comes a day after China questioned a team of visiting Indian journalists as to what would New Delhi do if Chinese troops entered Kalapani region in Uttarakhand or Kashmir.
