Baramulla/ Bandipora: A complete shutdown was observed in most areas of Baramulla and Bandipora districts on Monday in mourning of three local Lashkar militants who were killed by government forces in Amagrah area of Sopore on Saturday. All shops and other business centers remained shut in Baramulla, Sopore, Pattan, Palhalan, Sangrama, Rafiabad, Narvaw, Hajin, and Sumbal areas. Private transport, though, was seen moving on the roads.
Reports from Khanpora said that hundreds of police and CRPF troopers were deployed there and people were not allowed to reach the Srinagar-Muzafarabad highway.
Reports from Sopore town said that a large number of troops were deployed in the town to avoide any untoward incident.
The district management had announced closure of boys’ degree colleges and boys’ higher secondary schools in Sopore and Baramulla, due to which students could not attend classes on Monday.
