Policeman critically injured by tear-smoke shell

Pulwama: A policeman was seriously injured when a tear-smoke shell exploded accidentally in his hand during clashes at Rakh-e-Lattir area of Pulwama in south Kashmir on Monday evening.
The Constable has been identified as Mumtaz Ahmad belt no 790 IRP of 18 battalion D-Coy, police officials confirmed to Kashmir Reader.
The injured constable was rushed to district hospital Pulwama where he was referred to SKIMS Soura Srinagar, a doctor posted at district hospital Pulwama said.
Sources said that the police Constable was injured during clashes which erupted after government forces launched a cordon and search operation at Rakh-e-Litter village following information about presence of militants in the area, reports said.
The clashes continued till the last reports came in.
