Kupwara: The army on Monday said it had foiled an infiltration bid along the Line of Control in Machhil sector of Kupwra and killed at least 5 militants attempting to cross into Indian territory. The army said that on Monday afternoon it detected suspicious movement along the LoC in Machil sector and when it challenged the group of militants, they fired at the army. In the gunfight that ensued, five non-local militants were killed, the army said, adding that a search operation was continuing in the area.
Srinagar-based army spokesperson, Col Rajash Kalia, confirmed that five militants were killed when the army foiled an infiltration bid in Machhil sector. He said five weapons were recovered from the spot.
