Second case of IAS officers’ objectionable conduct in J&K
Srinagar: The divisional administration in Jammu has attached Udhampur deputy commissioner Neeraj Kumar, a 2010-batch Indian administrative service (IAS) officer after his pictures with two young girls in objectionable state inside a well-furnished room went viral on social media. While the girls’ identity has not been established, Kumar is clearly recognizable in the pictures. The authorities have not specified whether the act has been a honey trap. This is the second case since June last year when IAS officers were found involved in immoral activities compelling the authorities to shunt-out an officer from the state and shift another from his posting. The objectionable activities of the two officers were mentioned by legislators inside the assembly forcing the government to take action.
In the latest expose, Kumar clad in a blue T-shirt and hiding his lower body under sheets is laying on a bed in a compromising position with girls in skimpy black dress. Girls, however, seem to have hidden their faces while the picture was clicked in some hotel.
Meanwhile Jammu and Kashmir government attached Kumar with the office of Divisional Commissioner Jammu soon after the pictures went viral.
According to the government order no: 1015-GAD of 2017 dated 04/08/2017, a copy of which is with Kashmir Reader read, “pending inquiry into his conduct, Mr. Niraj Kumar, IAS (JK 2010) DC Udhampur is here by attached with the office of Div Com Jammu.”
The order further read, “Arvind Sharma, KAS, Additional District Development Commissioner, Udhampur, shall look after the work of Deputy Commissioner Udhampur till further orders.”
However, the order, attachment of Neraj Kumar with the office of Divisional Commissioner Jammu faced criticism on social media. People from both the divisions of the state demanded he to be termination from the service.
“This could be a clear case of sexual exploitation for a promised government job. He should have been suspended till the investigation was done,” said Ajay Singh, social media user.
Another user Dar Tariq who also shared the post said, “Had he been a common person, he would have been behind the bars. Officers become reckless for press conference. Dark is the nation and insane the king,” he said.
