3 protesters injured in army firing in Bandipora

Srinagar: Three persons were Saturday injured when Army personnel opened fire at a group of protesting youths in Bandipora district of north Kashmir, sources said.
Protesting youth pelted stones on Army vehicles which were passing through S K Bala locality in Sumbal area of Bandipora, police sources said.
They said the Army personnel opened fire to disperse the protesters, resulting in injuries to three persons.
The injured have been referred to a hospital for treatment, they added.
The injured have been identified as Hilal Ahmed Wani, Latief Ahmed Khan and Suhail Ahmed Bhat all residents of Sadrekoot Bala.
Earlier a local militant Abid Hamid Mir was killed at Amargah Sopore in a gunfight with forces.
A similar incident took place at Harnag in Anantnag district but there were no casualties in the Army firing there, sources said. (With inputs from agencies)
