Union Jt Secy interacts with stakeholders, District administration
KATRA: To make stakeholders aware about the provisions of Goods and Services Tax (GST) Act, a mega workshop-cum-interactive session was organized here on Thursday, an official press note issued here read.
The programme was held under the headship of Joint Secretary Ministry of Commerce, Government of India, Sudhanshu Panday.
“The aim of holding such events was to know the apprehensions, doubts and genuine problems that are anticipated by industries and traders with the implementation of GST in the state,” Panday said this while interacting with local traders and district administration.
Resource persons, through lectures, explained in detail all the components of the GST Act and the procedures to be followed by stakeholders after its implementation, the press note added.
The stakeholders were asked to go for registration under GST so that their business may not suffer. The district administration, in cooperation with State Commercial Taxes and Excise Department, is conducting regular orientation and awareness programmes on GST Act to acquaint all stakeholders with its provisions, it further added.
Some basic issues and queries related to the implementation of the act were also discussed. It was assured by the concerned officers that supportive system has been evolved to assist the stakeholders for accessing registration under new GST law. It was also informed that online registration involves a very simple and conceivable process.
The workshop was also attended by DDC Ravinder Kumar, Additional CEO SMVDSB Anshul Garg, Additional Commissioner Commercial Taxes Jammu Anu Malhotra, DC Stamps Bharat Singh, SDM Neelam Khajuria, DTO Jivtesh Singh, SP Sumir Kotwal, Tehsildar Mohit Raina and other officers.
