Participate in knowledge transfer sessions on GST: DDC Samba to DDOs

SAMBA: An interaction-cum-awareness program on GST for Drawing and Disbursing Officers (DDOs) was organized by district administration Samba on Tuesday, an official press note issued here read.
According to the press note, the programme was held in collaboration with Commercial Taxes Department and the event was conducted under the chairpersonship of District Development Commissioner, Sheetal Nanda.
The programme underlined guidelines for the DDOs as per the new tax regime besides highlighting provisions relating to registration, TDS, intra-state and inter-state taxes and key responsibilities of the DDO’s.
Resource persons from Commercial Taxes Department responded to various queries raised by officers which were primarily related to rate of tax deduction and registration process.
“The registration of DDO’s involved in purchasing and deduction of taxes for works contract and other similar activities shall start soon and link shall be available on GST portal”, the press note read. In case of any further clarification about the new tax regime, the participants were told to contact Help Desk Number 7051889993 or visit web portal www.gst.gov.
Nanda asked the officials to “participate in these knowledge transfer sessions” and informed that “such sessions are being organized across the district”. Later, the officials had an interactive session with industrialists and responded to several questions ranging from online submission of returns to input tax credit provision.
ADDC Vivek Sharma, ADC Tilak Raj Sharma, Assistant Commissioners (Commercial Taxes) Rajneesh Gupta and Deepika Rana, Sales Tax Officers Chander Parkash , Bhupinder Singh Chib, RO Central Excise Department H.S Brar and all DDO’s of the district were also present on the occasion.
Meanwhile, Commercial Tax Department Udhampur also organized a workshop for Drawing and Disbursing Officers (DDOs) on Goods and Services Act-2017 on Tuesday.
Others present on the occasion included Deputy Commissioner Appeals, Rakesh Magotra, CTO Narinder Singh, CTO Rakesh Sharma.
During the workshop, Master Trainer, Saba Noor, CTO informed the participants about GST in detail.
The DDOs, through a Powerpoint presentation, were informed about the registration process, tax deduction by them under Sec-51 of JKGST, mode of payment of tax, method of furnishing TDS certificate and penalties they have to face if they fail to furnish the same. The workshop was followed by an interactive session in which all the DDOs put forth their queries regarding GST which were answered by the officers.
All the Drawing and Disbursing Officers of the district attended the workshop.
