Cocoon rearing has potential to create job avenues: DDSDD Ang

ANANTNAG: A week-long Bivoltine Cocoon Auction Market organized by Sericulture Development Department is underway at cocoon market Sarnal Anantnag. Being held from July 30 to August 05, cocoon growers from Anantnag and Kulgam have brought their cocoons at the auction for the bidding is still going on.
In the auction, buyers from West Bengal, Maharashtra, Karnataka and other parts of India are also participating.
Deputy Director Sericulture Development Department (DDSDD), Anantnag said that organizing such markets has proved quite beneficial for the cocoon growers of south Kashmir as the growers get a chance to meet and interact with the buyers directly.
“Cocoon rearing has potential to create job avenues for the unemployed youth of the state,” added the DDSDD. He also advised the educated and unemployed youth of Kashmir to approach the department and get the necessary information regarding the establishment of the cocoon rearing units.
