Srinagar: Intense clashes between protesters and government forces erupted on Tuesday near and around the encounter site in south Kashmir’s Pulwama district, sources said.
A gunfight raged in Hakripora village of Pulwama early today, they said adding forces razed a residential house to ground in the initial hours of the fight. However there was no official confirmation about any casualties.
Soon after the gunfight started people from all the surrounding villages started marching towards the encounter site in Hakripora pelting stones on forces, sources said.
Local sources said that massive tear gas shelling on part of the forces was going on in the area as people were pelting rocks on them to help trapped militants escape.
LeT commander Abu Dujana is reportedly trapped in the village.
