Clerks association protests in Baramulla

Baramulla: Scores of clerks working in the different government departments in Baramulla district staged a protest on Friday against the alleged negligence of government towards the clerks.
Under the banner of All Jammu and Kashmir Clerks Association, the protestors reached the office of the Deputy Commissioner Baramulla to stage their protest. The main demand of the employees was the removal of pay disparity.
They said that all the clerks from all the departments were on strike till July 31, after which they would hold a protest in Srinagar.
Abdul Majeed Bhat, President of the association for Baramulla said the clerk cadre forms the backbone of the all departments and government, “but unfortunately their role is always ignored”.
He said the removal of pay disparity of the clerk cadre was unresolved since 1991, and if the government does not solve their problems, “we will take to streets and government will be responsible for that”.
The protestors later presented a memo to DC Baramulla and dispersed peacefully.
