‘Indian media projecting resistance leaders as terrorists’
SRINAGAR: Rejecting the allegations leveled by NIA against resistance camp, Hurriyat Conference Thursday said that New Delhi through a “well thought-out plan” was pushing people and pro-freedom leaders to the wall.
“It is a ploy to suppress (the) freedom sentiments,” a statement issued by Hurriyat said. “Through these arbitrary measures, Indian authorities are harassing (the) leadership. We’ll will continue our struggle and pursue mission at all costs till (the) destination is achieved.”
Hurriyat said these “suppressive and arbitrary” measures will not help Delhi in cowing down their spirit “as such actions have failed in past”.
“Indian forces are inflicting atrocities and (the) unabated killing cycle has created horrified situations in state.”
Hurriyat said the NIA has no role to play in the state and “any person if needed could have been prosecuted under the provisions of state laws”. “Contrary to it, the NIA is filing fraudulent cases against Kashmiris in Delhi. Police in their routine and protracted processes produce fake witnesses and thus unnecessarily prolong and delay these court hearings over a long period.”
The amalgam said authorities “feel desperate” to mislead the international community about the prevailing situation in Kashmir and have resorted to character assassination of resistance leadership and framing “fictitious” cases against them.
Slamming the “sick and biased” Indian media, Hurriyat said they are creating “media terror” as was done with Afzal Guru who was hanged. “Same policy is recurring and adopted to project resistance leaders as terrorists to prevent them from representing the aspirations of (the) suppressed nation,” it said.
The conglomerate said the present appalling situations in Kashmir is the outcome of the statement of India’s home minister that “situation in Kashmir will improve within a year”. “India is facing the awkward situation on international forums and to overcome this, it has resorted to extreme barbarism against people and resistance leadership.”
“We have no intentions to snatch any legal part from India but ask for legitimate and fundamental right for the people in state. It has been assured and promised by international community and both India and Pakistan are signatory to this,” the Hurriyat said.
“However, India failed to fulfill its promise and continued its forced occupation through military might. India claims to be a big democracy in the world; however they have grabbed and trampled democratic and fundamental rights of 15 million people of Jammu and Kashmir.”
Hurriyat appealed to people in India to impress their leadership to stop “barbarism” and resolve Kashmir issue as per its historical background. Hurriyat appealed people to “repose faith in Almighty Allah and never lose hope”. “We will never give up our mission nor is it possible in future.”
