Srinagar: The state president of Employees Joint Action Committee Abdul Qayoom Wani has criticized what it called the “double standard” adopted by the state government in paying salary to +2 lecturers of school education department vis a vis other gazetted officer appointed under SRO 202 of 2015 dt:30/6/2015.
Wani said the +2 lecturers were given step motherly treatment.
Wani said that the discrimination notified vide circular No. 09 GAD of 2016 dated: 29/01/2016 against the non gazetted posts and notified gazetted posts of the Higher Education and School Education departments advertised after 30thJune 2015 should be waived off.
He said, similarly, in service +2 lecturers appointed in school Education department through proper channel are drawing less salary than their counter parts. They are not being given the pay protection under article 77–D of CSR.
Wani termed this double standard and discrimination as a cruel Joke and implementation of SRO 202 of 2015 as against the fundamental principle of equal wages for equal work. “This SRO is totally injustice to newly recruited employees and is unacceptable.”
Wani urged the Finance Minister and the Chief Secretary to look into this double standard and injustice and administer justice with these lecturers appointed in school and Higher Education departments. Besides, he said, pay protection be granted to inservice +2 lecturers who are drawing less salary than the other newly appointed non gazetted employees appointed after 30/6/2015.
