Association formed to regulate newspaper printing

Printing charges increased by 25 pc

Srinagar: The members of five commercial newspaper printing presses comprising of Khidmat Press, Abid Enterprises, Sanagarmal Offset Press, KT printing Press and Kashmir Images Printing Press on Thursday framed an ad hoc body ‘Kashmir Newspaper Printing Press Association’ to manage and run the affairs of the association.
The decision was taken here to appoint Khidmat Press, General Manager, Bilal Ahmad Qureshi the president of association on ad hoc basis till elections will be conducted
Javaid Jeelani of Kashmir Images was appointed as vice-president, while Raja Mohi-u-din of KT Press was nominated as general secretary of the association.
Also Mohammad Ismail of Abid Enterprises and Umar Farooq Khan Amiri of Sangarmal Offset Press will be the members of the association .
In view of increase in the rates of raw material due to introduction of Goods and Services Tax and existence of toll tax, the association has decided to increase the printing charges by 25 percent.
The association decided to implement the new revised charges from 1st August this year. The association also decided to ostracize the defaulter newspapers.
Pertinently the printing charges had never been assessed earlier, which had accumulated the burden on the presses over the years.
