Communal harmony: Muslims help perform Kashmiri Hindu woman’s last rites in Kulgam

KULGAM: In the spirit of communal harmony, Muslims at Manzgam village in south Kashmir’s Kulgam district helped perform the last rites of a Kashmiri Hindu woman.
Rani Ji, wife of Balko Singh, a resident of Damhal Hanjopra Kulgam passed away on Tuesday. The family had refused to leave and set faith in their neighbors after most of the members of their community migrated to Jammu and other parts of India.
Now the only non-muslim family in the village, the Singhs were helped by several Muslims in the village in performing the last rites of the deceased while others condoled the bereaved members.
A Muslim villager said, “Our religion Islam teaches us to live in communal harmony and stresses to restrain and refrain from doing any harm to minorities”.
