Kulgam: Militants believed to be two to three in number managed on Monday to escape a Cordon and Search Operation (CASO) following intense clashes between locals and government forces in Kulgam’s Qaimoh village.
The CASO was launched in Moqdampora and Thokerpora localities in the village.
As soon as forces launched the CASO, hundreds of locals came out on the streets and engaged the forces in intense stone-throwing clashes.
Local sources said that the forces used tear-smoke shelling and aerial firing to disperse the protesting youth. The militants managed to leave the cordoned-off area during the clashes.
Police Control Room Kulgam maintained that there was no CASO in the area and said that some stones had been thrown at a forces patrol.
