Militants escape army naka in north Kashmir

Srinagar: Militants late last night attacked an army patrol in Ajas area of north Kashmir’s Bandipora district, sources said.
The army patrol party of 13 RR was attacked near main Chowk at around 10:30 PM.
A police official said “militants fired several rounds towards an army party which was part of a check point.”
“The driver of a Sumo vehicle was asked to stop for checking, however militants boarding the vehicle started firing,” the officer said adding however there was no report of any injury and the militants managed to flee the area leaving the vehicle behind.
The Sumo vehicle was seized and a grenade and some other items were recovered from it, the police official said.
Police sources said that they have identified the driver of the vehicle who is absconding since the incident.
