Srinagar: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) Monday arrested seven pro-freedom leaders in connection with “terror funding case”, sources said.
The leaders who were arrested include Nayeem Ahmad Khan, Bitta Karate, Sahid-ul- Islam, Altaf Ahmad Shah, Meharajudeen Kalwal, Peer Saifullah and Ayaz Akbar.
Sources said that the said leaders were summoned by NIA to Humhama where they were formally arrested. However officials did not confirm their arrest. Sources said that some leaders may be allowed to go while as some are being arrested. “The arrested may be shifted to New Delhi,” they said.
The arrest of the said leaders came after the NIA conducted several rounds of interrogation following a “sting operation” of a Delhi based TV news channel.
