Inaugurates ‘Milk Village’ at Argi
RAJOURI: Minister for Animal and Sheep Husbandry and Fisheries, Abdul Ghani Kohli Sunday inaugurated ‘Milk Village’ in Argi area of the district.
Under this ambitious project of animal husbandry department, 50 identified beneficiaries of the village would be provided 100% subsidy to establish dairy farm units on modern lines, an official press note issued here read.
Kohli said, “The scheme entails establishment of dairy units with dairy animals of established genetic worth in 50 villages of the state with 50 beneficiaries per village”, adding the aim of the scheme is to bridge the demand-supply deficit of milk in the state in general and Rajouri in particular.
He also chaired an important public meeting at Argi in which around 250 residents of Argi and adjoining villages participated and apprised him of the development issues they face in day-to-day life.
The concerned officers personally responded to the grievances raised.
Kohli exhorted upon the heads of departments to “conduct field visits frequently so as to knit a close co-ordination with field staff which, in turn, would help to initiate a prompt response in case of any exigency”. This he said while giving directions to the officers for timely addressing the genuine issues of the public.
The minister was accompanied by Joint Director Animal Husbandry Department Y. D. Sharma, ACR Abdul Qayoom Mir besides other district officers.
