Srinagar: For the fifth consecutive Friday, government did not allow congregational prayers at the historic Jamia Masjid at Nowhatta in Srinagar.
As authorities had imposed strict restrictions under Section 144 in Nowhatta, local residents told Kashmir Reader that all the raods, lanes and bylanes leading to the mosque were sealed with concertina wires by government troops.
They said that the outer gate of Jamia Masjid was padlocked early today and police and paramilitary personnel were deployed in the area to prevent people from reaching the mosque.
