Srinagar: At least 25 protesters sustained injuries as clashes between them and government forces intensified in Zainapora area of Shopian district on Thursday.
The clashes erupted in the area after an Army vehicle crushed a school going nine year old girl namely Arooba Farooq to death at nearby Aglar.
Soon after the death of the girl hundreds of people including women and students hit the roads in Zainapora to protest against what called rash driving of Army vehicles in the area.
However police and other forces resorted to tear smoke shelling against the stone pelting protesters.
Witnesses told Kashmir Reader that forces resorted to pellet firing injuring at least 11 who have been shifted to SD hospital Zainapora. Other protesters were injured by counter stone pelting of forces or tear smoke shelling.
