Srinagar: National Conference leader Dr Farooq Abdullah Monday took oath as Lok Sabha member in on the very first day of the monsoon session of the parliament, sources said.
They said that Farooq took oath in his mother tongue, Kashmiri. Farooq was elected earlier this year after a very low voter turnout.
The Monsoon Session of Parliament, which began in New Delhi and is expected to be stormy affair with the opposition parties all set to corner the Narendra Modi government over a host of issues.
At least 16 new bills are listed for introduction in this session including to implement the GST in Jammu and Kashmir, and a bill to amend the Citizenship Act to allow certain illegal immigrants get Indian citizenship.
