Srinagar: An Army soldier and a nine-year-old girl were killed in the fresh cross border firing between Indian and Pakistani troops along the Line of Control (LoC) in Poonch district, reports said on Monday.

The army soldier identified as Mudassir Ahamad, was hailing from Tral area of the south Kashmir’s Pulwama district.
Naik Muddasar Ahmed was grievously injured when mortar shells landed on his bunker. He was evacuated to the MI room where he succumbed to his injuries.
According to Def PRO Col Rajesh Kalia, Naik Muddasar Ahmed 37 years, belonged to Village Duchoo, in Tral, District Pulwama, and is survived by his wife Shaheena Muddasar and two children.
“Naik Muddasar Ahmed was a brave and sincere soldier. He loved his job to the core. The nation will always remain indebted to him for the supreme sacrifice and devotion to duty,” Col Kalia said.
Sources said that both India and Pakistan exchanged heavy shelling first in Rajouri and then in Poonch districts along the LoC.
After heavy cross border shelling Directors General of Military Operations (DGMOs) of India and Pakistan had an exchange over the hotline early today.
